Wywiad jest z 1 lipca,więc w sumie w miarę świeży.
Nie było go do tej pory w newsach,a osoby odpowiedzialnej za Izziego chwilowo nie ma,więc wrzucam tutaj.
Ktoś przetłumaczy w wolnej chwili na ochotnika?

What are the current musical projects you're working on right now?

Rick Price and I are still doing our incarnation of the "Georgia Satellites" touring nationally...also doing some studio work with local musicians...writing...sitting in as a feature artist with the "Last Waltz Ensemble" which is our take on the tunes from the movie and then some...I'm a great fan of The Band so it's a rewarding gig....and jamming at local clubs here and there and just basically "livin' the dream" my friend~

Do you keep in touch with the rest of the JuJu Hounds?

Recently saw Chalo with Social Distortion (still my favorite drummer and quite the snappy dresser)...saw Jimmy with BuckCherry a couple months ago and visit him in LA every chance I get, Jimmy and I have remained close friends and confidantes, he's a total inspiration...still mates with this lot and would share a stage with them anytime..I totally respect them as players and people~

When was the last time you talked to Izzy?

We talk as frequently as possible, schedules permitting...He's staying really busy these days~ Always stoked when I get a call to work with him again. It's like we're four hands on the same guitar. Very symbiotic!

Could you describe the 2005 Miami album in short?

The Miami sessions were basically electric. We also incorporated my friend, Joey Huffman on keyboards, but no acoustics this time around. Used JT Longoria from Dallas who played bass and engineered, also on "Like A Dog". Some strong numbers here but a bit of a departure from "Like A Dog". Still quite a rocker! Recording at Criteria was a gas, a lot of history there...Hope it will be released one day soon

What is your preferred tuning and which do you use most frequently?

When I'm in tune...it's usually standard! I use Open G for slide. Have used Drop D and Baritone Guitar and Nashville tuning on some earlier Izzy songs, but usually whatever the song calls for is the tuning I use. Tu Ning, I have discovered is not a city in China!

Do you have plans for a solo album in the future?

I have some recorded material on the back burner that needs to be released...so a solo album is always a possibility

How was it working with Duff on the albums?

Duff's an amazing cat. Professional and hilarious in the same beat, I love his punk sensibilities which adds balls to all the numbers. The biggest treat was touring Japan with Duff on bass. Never a dull moment, he's quite a generous fellow~ Had dinner with him and his lovely wife Susan and the gang in South Beach before the Velvet Revolver show~ Great great live show!

Which music/bands do you listen to?

Currently I'm really into Bob Dylan and Tom Petty's radio shows on XM Radio. Dylans interjections are cheeky and informative, he's got great stories for every tune. And Petty's musical choices are so in line with my taste in music, it's like he's pilfered my collection!...Can't stray away from my old favorites...anything from the Stones to George Jones~ What do you think about the new band, Wolf Mother?

Are there any unreleased Izzy albums/projects that the public doesn't know about?

Hell yeah~ Every session has yielded some great material that I think is some of Izzy's best work. There's bound to be stuff in the can when you're as prolific a song writer as he is. Hopefully some of this will see the "light of day"~

What is your favorite album and song that you recorded with Izzy?

The whole first "JuJu Hounds" album and the "Live" album we cut in Dublin was brilliant. As far as songs, I really enjoyed the process of recording "Time Gone By" and "Train Tracks"...but, it's hard to pick a favorite

Jeżeli chodzi o odpowiedz na pierwsze pytanie , to napiszę tak ogólnie bo jakoś nie potrafię tego po polsku poskładac za cholerę....

Nad jakimi muzycznymi projektami pracujesz w chwili obecnej?
Rick Price i ja zajmujemy się wciąż „Georgia Satellites”, mamy też trochę pracy studyjnej z miejscowymi muzykami, siędzę też nad „Last Waltz Ensemble”, jestem wiellkim fanem The Band więc bardzo mnie to cieszy no i jeszcze jamming w miejscowych klubach tu i tam, po prostu „realizowanie marzeń”

Utrzymujesz kontakt z JuJu Hounds?
Ostatnio widziałem Chalo z Social Distorrtion (wciąż mój ulubiony perkusista )...widziałem Jimmiego z BuckCherry kilka miesiący temu i odwiedzam go w LA kiedy tylko mam okazję, Jimmy i ja wciąż jesteśmy bliskimi przyjaciółmi, jest bardzo inspirujący, wciąż się wszyscy kumplujemy i byłbym bardzo szczęsliwy móc dzielic z nimi scenę...szanuję ich zarówno jako muzyków jak i ludzi

Kiedy ostatni raz rozmawiałeś z Izzym?
Rozmawiamy tak często jak tylko jest to mozliwe, jak tylko pozwalają na to napięte plany. On ostatnio jest bardzo zajęty. Bardzo się cieszę kiedy tylko dostaję od niego telefon, żebym z nim popracował. To tak jak cztery ręcę na tej samej gitarze. Bardzo symbiotycznie!

Czy mógłbyś w skrócie opisac album 2005 Miami?
Nagrania Miami były głownie elektryczne. Zatrudniliśmy także mojego przyjaciela Joeya Huffmana który gra na klawiszach, ale żadnego akustycznego grania wtedy. Zatrudniliśmy JT Longoria z Dallas który grał na basie, także na „Like a Dog”. Kilka mocnych kawałków, ale lekkie odbięgnięcie od „like a dog”. Wciąż rockowo. Nagrywanie w Criteria było niezłą zabawą, dużo się działo tutaj... mam nadzieje, że wkrótce zostanie wydana.

[Dalej jest o strojeniu gitary i tak dalej, nie znam się na tym, nie będę się więc błaźnic tłumaczeniem tego;).]

Masz jakieś plany na album solowy w przyszłości?
Mam trochę nagranego materiału na półce, który powinien byc wydany...więc album solo zawsze jest możliwy

Jak pracowało się nad płytami z Duffem?
Duss jest po prostu niesamowity. Profesjonalny i zabawny jednocześnie, uwielbiam tą punkową wrażliwośc która dodaje piosenkom „jaj”. Najlepsze było tourne po Japonii z Duffem na basie. Nie sposób się nudzic, jest dośc hojnym kolesiem. Zjadlam kolację z nim i jego uroczą żoną Susan i całą resztą w South Beach przed koncertem Velvet Revolver. Wspaniały koncert.

Jakiej muzyki słuchasz?
Obecnie wczułem się w radiowe show Boba Dylana i Toma Petty w radio XM. Wstawki Dylana sa bezczelne ale i pouczajace, zna super opowieści do każdej melodii. Natomiast wybory muzyczne Petty są tak zbliżone do mojego gustu, zupełnie jakby ukradł moją kolekcję!...nie mogę zapomniec o moich starszych ulubionych utworach...wszystko od Stones do George Jones’a.

Czy są jakieś niewydane albumy/projekty Izziego o której ludzie nie wiedzą?

Oczywiście, każda sesja dostarczaa trochę dobrego materiału, bez wątpienia niektóre z tych kawałów są jego najlepszymi dziełami Izziego . Nie ma szans,żeby nie było jakiegoś super materiału jeśli jest się tak płodnym twórcą jak Izzy. Miejmy nadzieje, że częśc z tego ujrzy światło dzienne

Jaki jest twój ulubiony album i piosenka nagrana z Izzym?
cały pierwszy album "JuJu Hounds" i album "Live" z Dublina są genialne. Jeżeli chodzi o piosenki, bardzo podobał mi się proces powstawania „Time gone by” i "Train Tracks", ale ciężko wybrac ulubioną

Tradycyjnie dziękuję za tłumaczenie.Dodam tylko,że album "Live" to bootleg z Dublina 1992,zresztą całkiem interesujący.

No może nie tak wkrótce,ale dobrze będzie się dowiedzieć,czy Izzy ma jakieś plany co do wydania płyty w tym roku

*So how was the tour last year with Rick Price and the incarnation of the "Georgia Satellites" ?

Had a great year. A lot of traveling & fun was had by all~ Oct. ‘06 I played with the Chicago band, Steepwater, in Barcelona, Spain. The crowd was really receptive, love the European audiences. The gig with Tom Petty at the Sturgis bike rally was a highlight, always great to see Mike Campbell and rip off as many licks as I can...I played with Drivin’ N Cryin’ on the Lynyrd Skynyrd Cruise to the Bahama’s first of this year...2,000 drunk Skynrd fans on a boat in the middle of the ocean...you do the math~

*Do you still keep in contact with the original members of Georgia Satellites?

Well, I don’t sit around and have cocktails or play poker with ‘em, but I did see Dan last year at a Yahoo’s show...as for Mauro I’ll be seeing him February 23rd when we play northern Wisconsin...I’m sure we’ll have a few laughs.

*Any new plans/projects for 2007, you like to tell us?

Basically more of the same. Check Izzy on I-Tunes for hard to find downloads~ Plan to go into the studio sometime Spring ‘07. Hopefully, doing some European dates, still trying to sort out details.http://www.thegeorgiasatellites.com

*Any tour plans with Izzy or Georgia Satellites for 2007?

Hell yeah, I’ll play anywhere that has beer and electricity!

*Do you know if Izzy plans to release anything in 2007?

Izzy’s always got somethin’ good up his sleeve...There should be new releases in ‘07~ Like I mentioned, you can get a lot of his obscure stuff on I-Tunes now.

*During last year, Izzy talked about recording sessions of "Like A Dog" in a interview. He said that it was recorded on Pro-Tools. How was it using Pro-Tools on "Like A Dog"?

I’m an analog man from way back...I much prefer tape, but Pro-Tools is a necessary evil I that have come to embrace...

*Did you guys record the "Miami Album" in Pro-Tools?

Bass and drums were recorded on tape, and then transferred to Pro-Tools...so we got the "warmth" of analog and the expediency of Pro-Tools, best of both worlds~ If my memory serves me well.

*Do you spend a lot of time working out solos or do they come spontaneously?

Two or three passes and I usually get it...I like to stay fresh and try not to be redundant...I find if you analyze it too much you lose the edge.

*What is your favorite guitar and amp at the moment?

Ah, let’s see...at this very moment, I’d probably say myVoxAC30 and the ‘57 Les Paul Jr., but on tour I use my PRS with Marshalls, hard to fuck that up.

*How did you started playing guitar?

I saw the Beatles like everyone else, but I’d have to say that one of my earliest memories was when I was just a wee lad, I heard this local cat who all the older folks called "a juvenile delinquent" play live for a group of my family’s friends... he belted out a great rendition of "Raunchy". That combined with his dangerous demeanor really struck a chord with me. I was mesmerized and hooked instantly...it’s funny how experiences like that make an indelible impression and stay with you for years. Needless to say, I ran to my room and learned "Raunchy"~

*In the last interview, You talked about Bob Dylan .Have you listen to his new album "Modern Times" ?

Of course, and once again, he’s a brilliant chameleon...Like the new band alot, but really miss Larry Campbells’ distinct guitar. I got a chance to meet Larry last summer when he played with Elvis Costello and EmmyLou Harris.....

I just have to say that Bob Dylan will never let you down...

*What's your favorite band/artist at the moment?

Favorite local band here in Atlanta, is Blackberry Smoke. They are handsome southern boys with that faces/stones feel...just finished the book "Exile On Main Street", and so once again I’m immersed in that perfect record. Recently bought Ronnie Woods new compilation "Ronnie Wood Anthology"strictly for the old "Birds" and "Creation" tracks. Most of the album I already had, but it was nice to hear the vintage stuff...I’ve been told that I should listen to The Black Keys.

*Is there anything would you like to say to the members at Beenafix.com?

Keep on feeding your insatiable appetite for the music you love...it’s the only thing that will keep one sane....Also, I appreciate the interest and support and hope to see you out on the road!
